Antonello Provenzale è Dirigente di Ricerca e Direttore dell'Istituto di Geoscienze e Georisorse del CNR. Attività di ricerca su interazioni clima-geosfera-biosfera, dinamica dei fluidi planetari e abitabilità planetaria. Golden Badge Award della European Geophysical Society nel 1997. Professore invitato alla Ecole Normale Superieure e alla Université Pierre et Marie Curie di Parigi, alla Ben Gurion University di Beer Sheva (Israele) e alla University of Colorado a Boulder (USA). Coordinatore del Progetto Europeo H2020 "ECOPOTENTIAL" (2015-2019). Coordinatore di GEO ECO, la Global Ecosystem Initiative di GEO (Group on Earth Observations). Autore di più di 150 pubblicazioni su riviste scientifiche internazionali (ISI). Autore di libri e articoli divulgativi.
